Annual Events
Throughout the year our chapter fundraises in many ways such as group Cycle Bar rides, nights at Yamas. and selling grilled cheese on campus. While these events vary from year to year, we also have a few major fundraising events that occur each year.
Fall
Traditionally our chapter holds a Hoops for Hearing event each fall semester. Organizations on campus are invited to make teams and compete in the basketball tournament. Our chapter is currently creating a new fall philanthropy event.
Spring
Each spring semester, Delta Zeta hosts a Learn to Listen week for the Wake Forest community. Our chapter likes to end the week with an acapella concert where all the acapella groups on campus perform in Wait Chapel.
Starkey Hearing Foundation
Starkey Hearing Foundation is our national philanthropy. This is a non-profit organization that provides hearing aids and other hearing-related healthcare to people in need globally and domestically. They strive to make hearing healthcare services more accessible for people and they are currently working in over 100 countries spread out across the entire world.
From 2015-2020 Delta Zeta raised 5.5 million dollars for Starkey
The Painted Turtle Camp
Our national service project is The Painted Turtle Camp. This is part of a larger initiative called SeriousFun. SeriousFun is a children’s network of summer camps for children living with serious chronic illnesses. They serve children with a range of disorders to have the perfect summer camp experience in countries across the globe. Prior to this year, Delta Zeta’s partnership was only with the Painted Turtle Camp, a single camp in California a part of this collective, but this fall they expanded their partnership to the entire organization.
Winston-Salem Urban League
Winston-Salem League is our local philanthropy. Their mission is to “empower and advocate for African American and other disenfranchised communities, and promote socioeconomic progress through education, training, and civic engagement.” One of their unique programs provides more than 100 teenagers with leadership development, life skills training, and career and college exploration.
